 Theme one — Baker-Miller Pink

We’ve all been impacted by COVID-19. As we’re getting vaccinated, there will be more opportunities to go back into the world safely. For some people, there may be some anxiety associated with it. The first theme for Everyone Explores will be focused on a color that has been scientifically examined as an anxiety-, hostility-, violence-, and aggressiveness-reducing color. This color will hopefully help create a comforting space for everyone to explore. Learn more about Baker-Miller pink.

Theme One Maker Studio

As a maker studio, the community was invited to help me make the elements for the exploratory installation. There were four featured activities along with several smaller activities available. I break up each week of the maker studio into different themed weeks. For this theme there was:

  1. Clay week

  2. Yarn week

  3. Paper week

  4. Fabric week

Here’s what we made

Theme One exploratory installation

As an installation, the community was invited to come see the installation in person. The installation completely transformed this ~350 square foot space into baker-miller pink extravaganza. This installation was multi-sensory experience creating a fully immersive experience. Here’s how:

  • Sight: Everything within the space was pink with multiple materials

  • Sound: Original audio created by Joseph Ferrera

  • Touch: Tactile elements including a change in flooring

  • Taste: Bubble gum lollipops were available to enjoy while exploring

  • Smell: A combonation of bubble gum and cotton candy oils were introduced to make the room smell pink
