Abundant Housing Massachusetts One-Pager

In Massachusetts, there is a severe housing shortage. Not enough homes are being built to keep pace with demand—especially near jobs and transit—and what is available is still largely segregated by income and race. Luckily, our client, Abundant Housing Massachusetts (AHMA) is trying to solve this problem.

Our goal for this one-pager we designed for AHMA was to visually and clearly explain the basics of the housing crisis, why it’s a big problem, what the barriers are to building enough housing (outdated zoning laws! Parking minimums!) and specific ways AHMA is working to solve the problem. And most importantly, how *all* Massachusetts residents can get involved by becoming an AHMA member.

Specific design decisions

The map on the front shows a handful of specific issues related to the housing crisis that are all especially detrimental in Mass. communities. Additionally, the back showcases member cards with pictures. The inclusion of the illustrated personas helps to humanize the different constituencies as well as highlighting the inclusivity of the organization and the diversity of the members. You can see these intentional design decisions being teased out in the sketches below.
